Football fans gathered at the CNG stadium, home of Harrogate Town FC, over the weekend as Emmerdale Stars took on supporters of Harrogate Town to raise money for a Harrogate boy who suffers from a rare and life-threatening condition.

3-year-old Archie Flintoft suffers from Diamond Blackfan Anaemia or DBA – which means his bone marrow doesn’t produce red blood cells.

It means he needs a blood transfusion every 3 weeks.

Archie’s family set up Archie’s Army last year to raise money for DBA UK, a charity which helps people affected by the condition.

In 2018 alone, they managed to raise £6,000 – through several fundraising events and taking part in charity activities such as The Great North Run.

This year, they have increased their target and were hoping to hit the £10,000 mark, but they have since surpassed that by hitting £12,000.
