EMMAUS UK has announced Charlotte Talbott as its next Chief Executive from 6 September 2021.

Charlotte brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the homelessness sector. Her career has been focused on drug and alcohol recovery, homelessness and criminal justice. She joins Emmaus from The Connection at St-Martin-in-the-Field, where she is the Deputy Chief Executive and has been leading on a transformational change programme. She was formerly in a senior leadership role for Lifeline, a national charity providing services to individuals affected by drugs, alcohol and related issues.

Emmaus UK is the support organisation for the federation of 33 Emmaus charities in the UK. Emmaus works to support people out of homelessness by offering a home for as long as they need as well as support, training and meaningful work in the social enterprises that fund the charities’ work. More than 850 formerly homeless people are supported in Emmaus communities across the UK.

Charlotte will lead the Emmaus UK staff team and work in collaboration with Emmaus communities to deliver the federation’s 2020-2025 strategic plan, building on the ambitions and priorities already agreed by the federation.

She is driven by social impact and social values and has a keen focus on raising the voice of disadvantaged people. She has a clear understanding of the pivotal role that Emmaus plays in supporting people that are socially excluded. I am delighted to welcome Charlotte to the role and look forward to working with her to continue to develop Emmaus in the UK.”

Talking about her appointment to the role at Emmaus UK, Charlotte said:

“Having worked for many years in homelessness and drug and alcohol services, I understand and am committed to the importance of whole-person recovery. This is what is offered by Emmaus communities across the UK and beyond and is what I have always admired.
