Education for Everyone: Fundraising and Donations

In this month’s column, we will be focusing on one of the most important aspects of our work – raising funds. Without fundraising, we would only be able to carry out a small fraction of the work we do. Much of our fundraising comes through events; crowdfunding; online auctions and donations.

Events

Following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, it is great to be able to host face to face fundraising events again and we have three planned so far for 2022:

Sunday 17th July – Skate Date with Mark and Matt at the Cambridge Ice Arena. This provides members of the public with the opportunity to skate with two professional skaters from ITV’s Dancing on Ice – Mark Hanretty and Matt Evers. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit: https://e4echarity.org/shop-2/.

Saturday 13th August – for the second year running we are delighted to be a part of Party in the Paddock at Newbury Racecourse – a full card of eight races with the final race ‘The Rangers Riding Ranch Handicap’ named after our Rangers Riding Ranch project. Racing will be followed by live music. We will be undertaking a bucket collection on the day as well as selling merchandise and having an online auction associated with the event (more details on this below). To purchase tickets, visit https://newburyracecourse.co.uk/.

Sunday 13th November – The Educator, Great Central Railway, Loughborough, Leicestershire. The day will begin with a special breakfast train which will be hauled by a steam engine from Loughborough Central to Quorn and Woodhouse then by a heritage diesel on the return to Loughborough Central. Tea/Coffee and Danish Pastries will be served on board. This will be a very special trip as we are hoping the train will run side by side with another steam hauled train a rare sight in the UK. There will then be an opportunity to join with the Great Central Railway for their Service of Remembrance held on the platform including the two minutes silence at 11am. Following this, there will be an opportunity to get refreshments and explore Loughborough Central Station. At 12.30 passengers will board ‘The Educator’ where a three-course lunch will be served while you travel through the Leicestershire countryside behind a restored steam locomotive and a heritage diesel locomotive. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit: https://e4echarity.org/shop-2/.

Crowdfunding

We use crowdfunding particularly to raise funds in support of larger projects. Currently, we are raising money to build and equip a learning centre (combined library and ICT suite) for a school on the edge of the Masai Mara in Kenya. For more information and to make a donation, please visit: https://www.chuffed.org/project/oloolaimutia-school-library-and-learning-centre.

Online Auctions

We will be running two online auctions this year to complement our events in August and November. The August auction will have a mainly equine theme and the November auction a mainly railway theme. We are still working hard to secure lots for both auctions. If you or your company would like to donate a lot, please e-mail us at enquiries@e4echarity.org. To see the lots we have already for our August auction please visit: https://app.galabid.com/partyinthepaddock/items.

Donations

In addition to fundraising events, we receive funds in support of our work from both individual and corporate/charitable trust donations. If you are an individual and would like to donate, please visit our website www.e4echarity.org and click on the ‘Donate’ button. If you are a company or charitable trust and would like to make a donation, please either e-mail us at enquiries@e4echarity.org or give us a call on 0330 043 4953.

Over the coming months, we will highlight our current projects to illustrate the impact fundraising and donations have on our work.
