Eden Project’s virtual community festival aims to help save the planet

EDEN Project Communities will host a people’s festival with headliners including Sir David Attenborough, BBC’s newest Doctor Who star John Bishop, journalist-turned tree champion Alastair Campbell and a host of stars at a free virtual community festival to help save the planet.

Coinciding with COP26, the Festival of Discovery will run from 11-13 November, offering three jam-packed days fizzing with brilliant sessions to explore what a better future might look like for individuals, communities and the natural world.

Sir David Attenborough, Sir Tim Smit and E.O. Wilson will talk about the pace of change needed to conserve our natural world and to make what we do now count. Expect other inspiring topics including climate activism and art, music, women as change-makers, rewilding, weather and sustainable fashion from speakers including artist Daisy Ginsberg, actress-author Rosie Day, fashion expert Wayne Hemingway and many more.

First started to help connect and inspire people during the UK’s pandemic lockdown in November 2020, this time the Festival focus is linked to COP26 with the theme ‘together for our planet’. The Festival aims to connect and inspire people in every community by offering a host of ideas to make what we grow, buy, wear, use, eat, repair and do in our everyday lives go further towards creating a better future for nature and humankind.

Other contributors include actors Ben Miller, Stephen Mangan and sister Anita, UN Climate Champion Nigel Topping, and a wide range of organisations from the Climate Coalition, RSPB, Hawkwood Climate Action Lab, New Local, Food for Life, The Mend Assembly, Women’s Institute, and the Eden Project’s very own gardening experts and chefs.

The Festival of Discovery will take place online 11-13 November, sessions are free and open to anyone via www.thefestivalofdiscovery.com, with new speakers being announced on social media via @edencommunities on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
