A couple from Devon enjoyed a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience attending the highly anticipated World Premiere of No Time To Die at the Royal Albert Hall in London, after winning a Comic Relief prize draw.
Stan and Diana Colman, from South Molton, were sitting on their sofa when they received a call to say that they would be rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s most renowned actors including Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux at the World Premiere of ‘No Time to Die’. The couple sparkled down the red carpet after they were chauffeur-driven in a Land Rover Defender to the event.
Speaking on the red carpet, Stan, said:
“We’ve always supported Comic Relief and given money to charity to try to help others. In the past, we have held fundraising events to raise money for causes close to our hearts. Seeing where your money goes and the difference it makes means that we are always very happy to donate.
“When we entered the competition, we didn’t really think we were entering as such. To get that phone call a few weeks later to say that we would be attending the premiere of the new James Bond film, we were surprised and delighted!
“We’ve never experienced anything like this in our lives, it has been brilliant.”
Alongside the red carpet experience, Stan and Diana received professional photos, a night’s accommodation at Taj Hotel and return tickets to London.
Diana added: “We won the prize in March 2020 and have been looking forward to it ever since. I have been nagging Stan to stay on top of it so we didn’t miss it. We feel so lucky to have won. We’re the first in the family to come to a premiere!”
The prize draw was launched for Sport Relief 2020, a campaign run by Comic Relief that saw the generous British public come together to raise a staggering £40,540,355 to help change lives in the UK and around the world. The money raised helped to tackle issues such as domestic abuse, mental health stigma, homelessness and child poverty.
Samir Patel, CEO of Comic Relief, said:
“It was great to see Stan and Diana on the red carpet at the prestigious Bond world premiere – they looked like stars! This was a once in a lifetime prize and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who made it possible. The prize helped raise a staggering £93,000 to help support people from across the UK and the world experiencing incredibly tough lives. Stan and Diana have supported Comic Relief for years and it is brilliant that they got to enjoy a night they’ll never forget!”
