Clear Sky Children’s Charity: Launch first online CPD course

DELIVERING face to face training over the past 18 months has been particularly challenging! At Clear Sky, a huge part of what we do is provide professional family practitioners with new skills when working with families. We enjoy nothing more than spending 2 fun-filled days with new colleagues and sharing Attachment Play!

Whilst we have been able to run an incredible 4 face-to-face courses in the last 8 months, and a further 4 live courses delivered over Zoom, we were aware that there were still a great number of practitioners who this wasn’t suitable for – who aren’t able to travel, were are self-isolating,  those who are geographically too far away in the UK, or who are overseas even and just can’t reach us at all.

In January 2020, we had already made the decision to make our new ‘Baby Bonding’ course available as an online model, had set about planning to film model sessions, and were busy considering the format for the huge amount of content. Suddenly we found ourselves hampered with lockdown after lockdown, and it became impossible to complete the filming of the course that we then ironically really needed even more due to restrictions!

Clear Sky Children's Charity: Launch first online CPD course

Undeterred, and in response to the huge demand for families support we have seen throughout the last 12 months, in particular, we have found a way to get the course completed and are delighted that it is launching online this week to tie in with the First 1001 Days Movement’s letter which we have signed, along with 60 other organisations to the Secretary of State for Health, Sajid Javid, calling for more support for the #BabyBlindspot

We have already been swamped with interest from as far away as the Far East and all across the UK! It is clear that this is a model that could not have come soon enough, and we are really pleased to be able to offer this to help support those practitioners who are helping to look after the neglected new families of the pandemic.

We were very grateful to our friends at The Happy Hub in Cholsey who kindly agreed to let us film some of their members to help us to complete the online course, and are delighted that we will be working with them across the summer and beyond to deliver the group programme itself to their families.
