The Charity Today Awards are prestigious national awards with a long history of recognising excellence throughout the nation’s charity sector.
Every year, ten categories open to receive nominations from charities, community groups and individuals.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s awards (2021/22) are online.
While the last twelve to eighteen months have been difficult for many, few have been impacted more than the charity sector. But that does not mean the industry has been without its heroes.
Charity Today has spent the year sharing many stories showing how the sector is fighting back and coming together for the greater good.
We’ve seen and heard of the many stories, and now it is time for you to register your unsung heroes for some specific and prestigious recognition.
Thank you for your continued support.

Community Impact Award
This award is for an individual, project, or team that has significantly impacted a community, whether a local community or a specific community.
Disability Impact Award
A disability can bring about many challenges for people; we are looking to award an individual, team or project that has improved the lives of disabled people for the better over the last 12 months.
Health & Social Care Award
Whether you represent a care home, a medical research charity, a hospice, or a health care professional, they all deserve our heartfelt thanks.
This award recognises an individual, group or charitable organisation that has excelled over the last 12 months in providing health care or made significant strides in medical research.
Charity Film of the Year
An award for a charity or cause-related film production that achieved an outstanding level of exposure for a charitable cause over the last 24 months.
Partnership of the Year
Charities and other entities often establish robust fundraising and awareness projects together. Whether the partnership is between two charities, a charity and a business, the winner must show how their collaboration has excelled in furthering the objects of the charity.
Fundraiser of the Year
If you know a person, a group or an organisation that has shown creativity, commitment and inspiration while raising money for a charity (or charities), then you can nominate them for the Charity Today Awards’ Fundraiser of the Year Award. You can even nominate yourself!
Volunteer of the Year
We want to celebrate all of the amazing volunteers out there. The people that go above and beyond; the doers, the no-quitters, the optimists and the go-getters. Let us hear how a volunteer has inspired you and others to support their respective causes. You can even nominate yourself!
James E. Smith Special Recognition Award
This award is given to a person, group or charity that has worked on a particular project for at least fifteen years—overseeing the highs and lows that came with such a time and achieved some outstanding results that others continue to benefit from today.
An award donated by the family of the late Private James Edward Smith family; a veteran and hero who fought for Britain in Burma (now Myanmar) in World War Two as part of the ‘Forgotten Army’. James died in 2013, aged 94.
Charity Today Awards – UK Charity of the Year
This hugely sought after and prestigious award recognises a UK Charity Week Official Partner Charity for their outstanding work and contribution. The charity must show how it has excelled over the last twelve months and be able to demonstrate some notable achievements.
