A commitment to clear values, delivering excellence, great communication and ongoing staff development and support has led to Investors in People awarding Heart of England Mencap with its coveted ‘We invest in people’ Silver Accreditation.
Silver is a fantastic achievement and something only 20 per cent of the organisations assessed achieve.
It means that the right principles are in place but more than that, it means people and leaders are making active efforts to make sure that there’s real consistency and everyone in the organisation is feeling the effects.
Heart of England Mencap supports around 200 people with a learning disability with a range of services in south Warwickshire and North Worcestershire, from day opportunities to residential care.
The charity’s mission is to empower people with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.
Heart of England Mencap has around 200 employees, and its silver accreditation demonstrates its commitment to nurturing the very best team to provide outstanding care.
Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said:
“We’d like to congratulate Heart of England Mencap. Silver accreditation on We invest in people is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Heart of England Mencap in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”
The accreditation follows extensive feedback from the charity’s workforce. Staff said they felt valued, informed, listened to and supported by their colleagues and the executive team.
Helena Wallis, Chief Executive of Heart of England Mencap, said:
“We’re immensely proud to receive silver accreditation, especially on the back of what has been the most challenging period our charity has faced. It is a testament to our commitment to building the very best team – ensuring our staff are supported and valued and understand our wider charity values as we strive to be an outstanding care provider. The people we support are always at the heart of what we do – but none of it would be possible without our truly amazing team, who have proven during the Covid-19 pandemic to be nothing short of exceptional. We are committed to supporting them to be, do and feel their best because that’s where excellence begins.”
