Charities awarded grants in CAF Resilience Fund

CHARITIES Aid Foundation (CAF) has announced the 102 charities that it will be working with as part of the second phase of the £40 million CAF Resilience Fund. The Resilience Fund forms part of the Covid-19 Support Fund with the UK insurance and long-term savings industry and the Community Match Challenge from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The CAF Resilience Fund is focused on communities hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. The first phase distributed emergency funding to help organisations survive and deliver rapid relief from the impact of the pandemic.

The second phase provides funds to organisations to both adapt and thrive after the pandemic. The programme is designed to help charities continue to deliver services that support the needs of communities, whilst also strengthening their organisational resilience.

Grants of between £50k- £350k have been awarded for service delivery, core costs and resilience-building. Organisations will also receive up to £20,000 to pay for external expertise to help achieve their resilience goals.

The grants are focused on three cause areas disproportionately affected by Covid-19. The organisations provide services which:

  • Support people living with disability
  • Work with Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities
  • Encourage Young adult (16-35 years) reskilling

Neil Heslop OBE, Chief Executive, Charities Aid Foundation said:

“Having battled through the pandemic, many charities are now taking stock and addressing how to rebuild their finances and services to move forward effectively.

“This unique and inspiring programme supports organisations to improve their resilience for the future while ensuring they can continue to deliver services to some of society’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people. We are delighted to be able to help them grow stronger with generous funding from the insurance and long-term savings industry and the Government’s match funding.”

Minister for Sport, Tourism, Civil Society and Youth, Nigel Huddleston said:

“The Government is committed to supporting communities who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. I’m grateful to the Charities Aid Foundation for their fantastic work distributing Community Match Challenge funding and supporting organisations carrying out critical work.

“I look forward to seeing how the second round of the CAF Resilience Fund helps build a strong future for these important organisations.”

Yvonne Braun, Executive Lead for the Covid-19 Support Fund and Director of Policy, Long-Term Savings and Protection at the Association of British Insurers (ABI), said:

“Since the start of the pandemic, charities and communities throughout the UK have come together to support those most in need. We are thrilled that through the partnership between the Covid-19 Support Fund, CAF and the DCMS Community Match Challenge, that the insurance and long-term savings industry has been able to support the work of these charities so that they can continue their vital work.”
