Battersea’s Volunteering and Fostering Programme achieves leading accreditation status

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is thrilled to announce its Volunteering and Fostering Programme has achieved the prestigious Investing in Volunteers (IiV) accreditation.

The world-renowned animal charity has been recognised as a leading organisation that is committed to training and investing in its volunteers across its three centres.

Battersea has over 1,200 volunteers and foster carers who lend their support in over 40 roles, from directly caring for its homeless dogs and cats, to offering much needed support at fundraising events such as Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge and advice at responsible pet ownership events.

The Home is dedicated to developing its volunteers’ skills in dog and cat welfare and recently opened a new Volunteering & Fostering Resource Centre at its London site.

Battersea’s Chief Executive, Claire Horton, said: “Being awarded Investing in Volunteers (IiV) status is a wonderful recognition of the hard work our volunteers ceaselessly commit to the thousands of unwanted animals in our care. They are an integral part of the Battersea family and we couldn’t achieve all that we do without their incredible dedication and tireless efforts, every single day of the year across our three centres and in the community.”

Battersea’s Head of Volunteering & Fostering, Charlotte Fielder, said: “This well-deserved accreditation honours the contribution made by our volunteers and foster carers who generously give their time and talents to help give our dogs and cats a second chance in life. Battersea is always looking for volunteers to support our work in many different ways and we hope that the IiV accreditation will encourage even more to give up their time for our cause, knowing just how valued they will be.”
