On 9th December 2017, #UKCharityWeek Official Partner Charity AFFCAD (Action for Fundamental Change and Development) UK will once again be running around Battersea Park dressed in their Santa outfits, with the view to spreading a bit of festive cheer all 6,000 miles away to Bwaise, the largest and poorest slum in Uganda’s capital, Kampala.
This year, the AFFCAD Elves will only have one thing on their mind when they are racing to that finish line in the annual Santa Fun Run – raising as much money as possible to rebuild the Excel Education Centre. The school is funded entirely by AFFCAD UK and their Ugandan counterparts AFFCAD, but unless vital funds are raised, the project cannot go ahead.
Full details on the Excel rebuild can be found here: http://www.affcad.org/get-involved/excel-rebuild
Meanwhile, one lazy elf has managed to get out of having to do any running at all and instead will be delivering festive parcels to the children that currently attend Excel, all the way from the UK to Uganda, so they can have a very special Christmas party!
These children were likely to receive little else this festive season, but thanks to the generous donations from St Saviour’s and St Olave’s Church of England School, Excel pupils will certainly get the opportunity to experience the magic of Christmas with approximately six hundred parcels which are now en route to them!
So, the 9th December will be a very special day for AFFCAD UK this year, the team may be spread over 6,000 miles but remain connected very closely by having one goal of bringing happiness and joy to all this Christmas, and on into 2018, whether in Battersea or Bwaise.
