On Sunday 4 October, thousands of runners will take part in Bidwells Cambridge 10k to support Muscular Dystrophy UK, the leading charity for more than 110,000 children and adults in the UK living with one of over 60 muscle wasting conditions.
With the event on track to sell out for a second consecutive year, over 4,500 runners are expected to participate in the junior 3k and adult 10k routes through the heart of Cambridge. Passing key landmarks, historic university college buildings, along the River Cam and onto Midsummer Common.
Now in its fifteenth year, the Bidwells Cambridge 10k attracts elite runners competing for a personal best, groups of family and friends, corporate teams, people in fancy dress, and those with a personal reason for taking part to fundraise.
The event village is open from 8am – 1pm on the day, with the Junior 3k starting at 9.15am and the adult 10k starting at 10am, followed by a trophy and prize presentation at 11am.
Bidwells, the leading property consultancy, returns as this year’s headline partner. David Lloyd Clubs will lead the warm-up for both the junior and adult races with Cambridge Radio hosting from the main stage.
The event is part of the Town and Gown 10k series, which started in Oxford in 1982, inspired by a local boy, Daniel Cleaver, who had muscular dystrophy. His father and local runners set up the event as a fun run to raise money, and to this day all profits go to supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK.
