Every year UK Autism Charity Anna Kennedy online celebrate Step in the Right Direction #autismdanceday and their very first year they received UNESCO Patronage. It was a fantastic success, and everyone was dancing in Schools, Colleges, Offices, Youth Clubs, warehouses and in their lounges at home in fact everywhere across the UK and overseas.
On the last Friday of April, the charity is celebrating this event again for the sixth year in a row when they are planning to get large numbers of special needs and mainstream schools to organise dance events to raise funds for Autism.
The positive benefits of dance for those with autism is widely documented, and this has been demonstrated at Hillingdon Manor School with the Street Dance Crew ‘Autism with Attitude.’
Anna Kennedy OBE Founder of the charity decided to take dance day one step further and ask you to join in a nationwide dance festival to raise funds for your local autism charities.
Speaking to Charity Today, Anna said: “It’s easy to organise – someone brings the music, and the invitees provide the moves! If we all get behind the occasion, we think it will capture the imagination of autistic children, adults and their parents, carers, friends and family, as well as local press and communities.”
Anyone can join in and have fun to raise money for this great cause.
Anna Kennedy Online would also like to share the fun by inviting you to upload pictures or video images, from your phone, of your event across social media with the tag #autismdanceday it’s a great way of publicising your cause and showing off your event to family, friends and the nation.
On Saturday 28th April Anna Kennedy Online is organising a Zumbathon in partnership with Lepra.
