A Berkshire-based autism charity has, for the first time, launched a new ‘Friends’ programme to build a community of support which will further the charity’s objective to transform the future for autistic young people with complex needs.
Prior’s Court, an autism charity based in Hermitage, Thatcham, launched this new tiered programme on 23rd April in order to highlight the work undertaken at Prior’s Court, raise funds, and raise awareness about autism with those in the wider community.
For individuals and families who are seeking to support a leading autism charity, Prior’s Court Friends offer a meaningful way to donate and make a real difference.
The membership programme aims to create a sense of community within its supporters, and members can become a Friend for as little as £5 per month. In return, friends will receive a number of benefits, including: an invitation to attend the Annual Volunteer Insight Day at Prior’s Court, a copy of Prior’s Court’s Annual Impact Report, regular fundraising updates, early access to Prior’s Court’s creative films, and access to video updates from the Chief Executive.

“Autistic young people at Prior’s Court have so much to give to their families, friends, communities and society. Every day, we witness their zest for life and watch them achieve the most incredible things. Recently, 15-year-old Mira managed to zip up her coat with little assistance. For some of the young people at Prior’s Court, the idea of putting on a coat to stay warm doesn’t come naturally. However, with dedicated 1:1 support, Mira now understands when she needs a coat and can zip it up by herself, too. This is a huge personal success for Mira and a significant step forward to greater independence.
“To accomplish such milestones and help autistic young people truly thrive, each young person requires highly specialist support. I am therefore delighted to announce the launch of Prior’s Court’s Friends membership programme. A regular donation from as little as £5 per month will make an extraordinary difference to young people like Mira – helping turn difficult days into good ones.”
