Although sponsorship of children and vulnerable adults is our main source of income, there are many other ways that we raise funds for our programmes in Guatemala and Albania, to provide extra help and support that is not covered by the sponsorship contributions. One of these is our Adopt-A-Child Charity Shops.
Our first Charity Shop opened in Markethill, Northern Ireland in 2010. This shop has provided tens of thousands of pounds over the past 10 years and has helped to fund things like our Christmas gifts for the children, refurbishment of some of our buildings, vehicles and specialised medical help, to name but a few. We expanded and moved to larger premises in Markethill in 2018 and this shop continues to go from strength to strength with a dedicated team of staff and volunteer helpers.
For the last two and a half years, we have held a Pop Up Charity Shop in Inverness, Scotland, firstly in the community room in the local library, then once a month at the Barn Church, Culloden. This proved very popular with the local community and we were delighted to be able to officially open our second permanent Charity Shop in Culloden Centre, Inverness, in January this year. The opening was very well supported by members of the community as well as supporters of Adopt-A-Child. The ribbon-cutting was performed by Maureen Quinn, the pioneer and original manageress of our Markethill shop, watched over by our Culloden Shop manageress Evie Henry. We have been overwhelmed by the level of positive response to this new shop from the local community, through donations of items for sale, offers of help staffing the shop and the level of sales each day.

Our new Culloden Shop is open Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm and Saturdays 10am – 1pm.
