BRITISH Airways and the Sreepur Village charity celebrated over four decades of partnership on Saturday 14th June with a special ‘Tea & Tiffin’ fundraising event held at Salaam Namaste restaurant in Bloomsbury.
The event commemorated the remarkable story of former BA flight attendant Pat Kerr, whose compassionate vision led to the founding of Sreepur Village in Bangladesh—a residential home that, for up to three years, supports destitute single mothers and their children, helping them feel safe and strong together through support, education and skills training.
Hosted by Sabbir Karim, BA Inflight Lead and Sreepur Trustee, the afternoon brought together current and retired BA crew, trustees, supporters, and local dignitaries to honour the lasting impact of the initiative. Guests included the Mayor of Haringey and Teresa Devereux, daughter of former BA Crew Leader Gerry Devereux, who worked alongside Pat Kerr during the charity’s early days.

Over a menu of vibrant Bangladeshi cuisine, guests shared stories and reflected on the enduring support BA crew have provided since the charity’s founding. The event also featured a raffle and the sale of Pat Kerr’s biography, with proceeds going directly to support families in need at Sreepur Village.
Since its creation, Sreepur Village has helped thousands of families escape cycles of poverty by keeping mothers and children together, offering shelter, healthcare, vocational training, and a path to independence.
The afternoon was a celebration not only of past achievements but also of what lies ahead. Funds raised will contribute to vital services on the ground in Bangladesh, continuing to support the village’s mission of safety, stability, and strength.
